If you go to my web page, there are a new video and a new podcast interview all about my recently-published novel Light.

I hope you enjoy both and maybe even buy the book. It’s a quick read and, I hope, a lot of fun. It’s based on the real science of optogenetics and postulates how this science might be employed in the future.

A tip of the hat to my former high school laboratory contributor, Karl Deisseroth, whose work inspired the novel. Karl is an MD, PhD psychiatrist and lab-based investigator at Stanford whose work has already garnered him the Lasker Prize and who just may be a future Nobel laureate for his ground-breaking research in this field.

There is no greater feeling in academia than watching one of your former students outdo you by a mile.
